22 Bishopsgate Preview

Sharing our progress as it happens

Bluecrow Projects were chosen as main contractor for the spectacular fit-out of 22 Bishopsgate, with Bluecrow Joinery being the main supplier of all joinery items throughout this 18,000sq ft restaurant area.

Bluecrow Teams are working with Design LSM who have created a complex but stunning design layout for our clients Rhubarb Food – who are known across the World for premium food + beverage experiences, events & iconic locations.

The height of 22 Bishopsgate was initially proposed at 307 metres, (1,007ft) but was scaled down to 288 metres (945ft) following concerns from the Civil Aviation Authority. By March 2009 the largest-ever piles in the UK had been laid and were sunk 48.5m below sea level, and 65.5m below the site.

In February 2015 the site was acquired by a new consortium and was completely re-designed with the original central core completely removed. The new building, renamed as 22 Bishopsgate is planned to be 278m (912ft) tall with 62 storeys. It is estimated the tower will provide approx 120,000 square metres of office space with 4,000sq metres for restaurants, retail and viewing galleries.

One of our first images showing the sheer scale of the building from street level. This was taken at one of our first site meetings with both the designers and the client.
