KINKALLY

Bluecrow worked closely with Award Winning Architects Da Bureau and the client Kinkally to develop their design concept and bring it to reality.

Starting from an empty shell, Bluecrow began the task of forming all new perimeter walls and bulkhead ceilings to accept the highly detailed three layer process of venetian polished plaster finish. All corners of any new wall or reveal were curved internally and externally along with a shadow gap detail top and bottom giving a soft, gentle flowing feel to the space.

The same venetian polished plaster was also used for the floor surface,
this made the project programme key to allow a continuous flow to the project.

Down in the basement the specialist plaster theme continues along with full height mirrors being used to clad the staircase giving more depth to the area.

A separate room houses a bespoke bar – Bar Kinky – with Stainless steel floor to ceiling clad walls and main island bar. Here you can watch the wonderful cocktails being made while illuminated with colour changing light boxes either side provided the main focal point.

Further into the basement, a feature bulkhead was formed, inset with lights and a textured specialist venetian plaster finish. Full height single glazing around the smaller staff staircase gives a simple but effective separation from the main area.

The existing front staircase leading down to the basement area was stripped of its handrail and balustrade and then replaced with steel sheet cladding, all powder coated in a textured finish, the existing metal chequer plate treads were over clad with dark stained oak treads.
